510e Speed Controller
510e Speed Controller

Model 510E Motor Speed Controller Specification

The 510E is a Phase controller intended to control motors driving fans or pumps where the reduced torque available from the motor is balanced by the fan power requirements providing a reduced fan speed. The controller will speed control Permanent Split Capacitor (PSC) motors and some Shaded Pole Motors driving fan or similar loads. This controller will not control an unloaded motor. It is not suitable for motors driving conveyor belts or any variable load. It is not suitable for motors with centrifugally switched capacitors. The device has two wires that are connected in series with the load (either way round). It will operate correctly in either the Phase or Neutral line. In some applications the controller provides best results in series with the RUN winding only, leaving the START winding at full mains potential. This appears worth trying if magneto-strictive hum is a problem. For use with multi-speed motors, the controller will operate on any speed winding, but each situation may require selection to find the minimum magneto-strictive hum. The controller should be physically located close to the motor to minimise radiation of Electro Magnetic Interference EMI. The minimum speed adjustment must be set with the main control fully anticlockwise (minimum speed) The motor must be able to start from rest at the minimum setting to eliminate the possibility of a stall situation where motors could burn out through stall and consequent lack of cooling air.

Infra Red Interface card for Hospital TV systems

Vayrotec manufacture an interface Card to connect between the Patient’s Nurse Call Handset and the Patient’s TV.

This module provides isolation between the Patient Handset and the TV and allows control of the TV functions from the Patient handset.

The card can be made to operate on 12 or 24 volt Systems and usually draws its operating power from the Nurse Call system. The TV audio is sourced from the TV headphone jack and data is sent to the TV in Coded Infrared format through an IR radiating diode. The diode is usually added to the rear of the TV through a 3mm hole located near the TV IR Receiver. This means the TV does not have to be opened to make wiring connections. The card allows 5 Infrared codes to be sent as follows;

Channel UP

Channel DN

Volume UP

Volume DN

Other codes can be programmed if required.

These cards are fitted with an audio amplifier and a digital volume control chip allowing the low level audio available from the Headphone jack to be comfortable at the Patient Handset speaker. When this method is used the Volume Infrared codes are not transmitted to the TV, but go via the digital volume control on the AD301 module. The Nurse can adjust the maximum volume level using a TV remote and the Patient then has control only up to that level.

In situations where the TV headphone volume is sufficient to operate the patient handset speaker, the audio amplifier and digital volume chip on the control interface module can be bypassed.

The module has a 4 way screw terminal connector for the IR diode and the TV Audio. Leads fitted with a 3mm IR diode and leads fitted with a 3.5mm audio plug are available. These are cut to length depending on the particular TV and mounting position. The module has an RJ45 header for the Patient handset (wallplate) connections and Power supply. The RJ45 connection details are as shown in the appropriate drawing.

Dimensions are; 87 x 68 x 32 with two mounting flanges extending 10mm. The case is black textured ABS. This case attaches unobtrusively to the back of the TV.
